Sherwood Maurice Cotton, age 87, of South Holland, IL passed away on Monday September 5, 2016. Beloved husband of 59 years to the late Helen Kathleen Cotton(nee Thomas). Loving father of Roger (Bonnie) Cotton, Susan (Phil) Krejci, Arthur Cotton, and Mathew (Janice) Cotton. Devoted grandfather of Sarah(Matt) Rutledge, Andrew(Rachel) Cotton, Sherwood Cotton II, Matt Jr.(Amelia) Cotton, and Martha Margaret “Maya” Cotton and great-grandfather of Ashlyn and Avery. Dear brother of Knute (Joanne) Cotton and Arliene Oey. He was preceded in death by brothers Hiram Ellsworth, Wendell, Raymond and Dean and sister Charlotte VanMilligan. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15th at 2pm at the United Christian Church in Country Club Hills, IL. Mr. Cotton was a research and ink chemist and a college chemistry instructor. He was a Korean War Air Force Veteran and was a dedicated leader with the Boy Scouts of America.
