Shirley Mae Dykstra, nee Drenth, age 91, of St. John, IN, passed into eternal life on Friday, February 13, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Richard “Dyke” Dykstra. Loving mother of Rick (Joellen) Dykstra, Tami (late Mark) Mulder, and Steve (Deanne) Dykstra. Cherished grandmother of Rich (Amy) Mulder, Andy (Alli) Mulder, Dana (Mitch) Corry, LaRae (Craig) Walker, Sam (Amanda) Dykstra, Jesslyn Dykstra, Luke (Jessica) Dykstra, Ben (Becca) Dykstra, Tony Dykstra, and Matt (fiancée Amber VanKalker) Dykstra; great-grandmother of 18. Dear sister of the late Helen Dorn, late Bernard Drenth, late Milton Drenth, and the late Richard Drenth. Preceded in death by her parents Chris and Elsie Drenth.
Shirley enjoyed many years of traveling with her husband Richard around the country and meeting many wonderful friends. Shirley was a member of Emmanuel CRC and volunteered in several different ministries. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren who brought her much joy. Shirley was dearly loved and will be missed.
Visitation Tuesday, February 17, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN with services conducted by Pastor Jeff Hale. Interment Oak Ridge Cemetery – Lansing, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a Christian School of your choice or Traditions Hospice (www.traditionshealth.com)
