Shirley J. Evenhouse, nee Sturwold, was born in Chicago, IL on February 18, 1945 and has journeyed home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 in Crown Point, IN.  She was married to William Kenneth Evenhouse Sr. for 58 years.  She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister and will be dearly missed.  Her children include Laura (Steve) Dykstra, William (Cathy) Evenhouse Jr., and Chad (Jessalynn) Evenhouse.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy, they include Kylee (Mike) Olson and Madi Dykstra, Paige Conroy, Brooke (Kyle) Knabenhans, and Logan Evenhouse, and Skyelyn, Savannah, and Chesney Evenhouse; she has two great-grandchildren, Callum and Maeve Olson.  Dear sister of Ruth (Bud) Adema, late Margaret (Pete) Bulwalda, Dorothy (Abe) Dykstra, late Alice Beukema, Clarence (Pearl) Sturwold, Elaine (Ken) Van Dellen, Victoria (late Jim) Evenhouse, Beverly (Dave) Szewczyk, and Lavern (Marv) Peterson.  She was preceded in death by her parents Nicholas and Stella Sturwold, and her first granddaughter Larissa Joy Dykstra.

It brought Shirley much joy to play computer and board games with her grandchildren and their friends.  She was the fun grandmother.  She was also known for her desserts like banana bread and pumpkin squares.  She volunteered her time regularly for over 20 years at the Bibles for Missions Thrift Center in Highland, IN.  She deeply loved our Lord and Savior and was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Crown Point, IN.

A private funeral service for Bill and Shirley will take place at Smits Funeral Home.  If you wish to view the service, it will be live streamed at https://www.facebook.com/SmitsFH on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 beginning at 11:00 a.m.
