Shirley E. Sprankle, 94, of Schererville, IN, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026. She was born on March 16, 1932, in Chicago, IL.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn H. Sprankle, and her grandson, Steven (Jennifer) Caruso. She is survived by her children, Deborah (Robert) Caruso, David (Julia) Sprankle, and Daniel (Camille) Sprankle; her sister, Sharon Nystrom; her grandchildren, Michael (Danielle) Caruso, Frank Sprankle, Sarah (James) Satkus, Danielle (Steven) Snider, Eric (Leslie) Sprankle, and Samantha Sprankle; her great-grandchildren, Kate Caruso, Alyssa Caruso, Brennan Caruso, and Piper Snider; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Shirley received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as a young adult. She faithfully served and followed Him, living out Biblical principles each day and passing that legacy to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who knew her. She is now home with her Lord Jesus, worshiping at His feet. Praise God! 

The family extends special thanks to the kind, compassionate, and professional staff at Visiting Angels, the Residences at Deer Creek Assisted Living Facility, and Unity Hospice.

Funeral service and burial will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Smits Funeral Home in Dyer, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, an organization Shirley supported for many years.
