Shirley M. Tanis Van Es

Shirley M. Tanis Van Es , nee Zandstra, age 87, of Crete, IL, formerly of Lansing, IL, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 24, 2019. Beloved wife of Frank Van Es, and the late William Tanis. Loving mother of Tom (Cheryl) Tanis, Trudy (Don) Kooy, Larry Tanis, Lorrie (Tim) McNabney, and Wesley (Cheryl) Tanis. Proud grandmother of seven;  great-grandmother of eight. Dear sister of the late Ann (late Clarence) Zuhlke, late Arlene (Don) Bennett, late Chuck (late Jean) Zandstra, late Edward (late Irene) Zandstra, and the late Edna (late Andy) Kuipers.  Kind aunt of many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by her parents George and Agnes Zandstra.

Visitation Saturday, December 28, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30 & Pleasant Springs Ln.) Dyer, IN, with Rev. Bill Zuhlke officiating. Interment Homewood Memorial Gardens  – Homewood, IL. Shirley was a former member of First Reformed Church in Lansing, IL. Memorial contributions may be given to Lansing Christian School or Crown Point Christian School .
