Shirley Rita Vadas, nee Pallick, age 81, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016. Beloved wife of John Vadas. Loving mother of John (Pam) Vadas and James (Stacey) Vadas. Cherished grandmother of Wendy, Jamie, Jacqueline, Zachary, Justin, and the late Carolyn; step-grandmother of Jocelyn, Christine, Bryant, and Jeffrey, and great-grandmother of 13. Dear sister of June Mayda and William (Maria) Pallick. Preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Pallick and 7 siblings: Anna, Irene, Mary, Michael, Patsy, Francis, and Leona. Loving aunt to 30 nieces and nephews and close friend of Violet O’Donnell and MaryAnn Evans. Visitation Friday, October 21, 2016 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.) Dyer, IN. Visitation also on Saturday, October 22, 2016 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 Noon at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 140 W. U.S. 30, Schererville, IN, with services conducted by Pastor Tom Shanahan. Shirley and Jack Vadas co-owned Vet’s Bait Shop on Chicago’s Southeast side for over 50 years.
