Shirley Jean Van Deursen

Shirley Jean Van Deursen, nee DeYoung, age 97, of South Holland, IL, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Lester S. Van Deursen. Loving mother of Donald (Noreen) Van Deursen and the late Leanne (Dominic) Milano. Cherished grandmother of Jodi Bult, Christopher Milano, Alia (Pat) Sullivan, Corine (Stephen Mitchell) Milano, and the late Andy Van Deursen. Great-grandmother of Sara Bult, Piper Sullivan, and Kenzie Sullivan. Dear sister of the late Arnold (late Gladys) DeYoung, late Gerhard (late Marian) DeYoung, late Sidney J. (late Blanche) DeYoung, and late Mae (late Ivan) Rietveld. Kind aunt of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents Nicholas and Cora DeYoung.

Shirley was a lifelong member of First Reformed Church in South Holland. She enjoyed knitting baby hats for Ingalls Memorial Hospital and was a volunteer at Holland Home. Shirley was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

Visitation Friday, August 21, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. directly at First Reformed Church, 15924 South Park Ave, South Holland, IL with Rev. Corey Buchanan officiating. Interment at Oak Ridge Cemetery—Lansing, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to First Reformed Church.
