Stephen Jay Sachs

Stephen Jay Sachs of Harvey, IL passed away on September 16, 2023 at Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital. Loving father of Steven Jay (Brandi) Sutton-Sachs of Hobart, IN and Jeffery Nathan Sachs of Burns Harbor, IN. Cherished grandfather of Tiffany Paige Sachs of Griffith, IN, Joshua Jay and Christopher David Sachs of Hobart, IN. Stephen was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sue Berkens.

Stephen was born and raised in Harvey, IL. He was a US Air Force Veteran that volunteered as a Service Officer at the Jesse Brown VA hospital for over 20 years. He was retired from Williams and Myers Photo Printers in Chicago, IL. Stephen was a member of many service organization, including veteran and civilian ones. Stephen had a passion for helping veterans get their VA benefits and during his voluntary career the veterans he helped were countless. Veterans would come from all over the country to received help from him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. at the Smits-Steger Memorial Chapel 3045 Chicago Road, Steger, IL., with Pastor John Wilkerson officiating. Military burial will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery- Elwood, IL.
