Susan Vander Meer

Susan Vander Meer, 83 years old of Antioch, IL, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at The Village at Victory Lakes, Lindenhurst. She was born November 1, 1934 in South Holland, IL, the daughter of the late Phillip and Myrtle (nèe Myers) Paarlberg. On January 17, 1956, Susan married Jerry Vander Meer in South Holland and he was the love of her life for the next 62 years. They settled in Antioch in 1964 where they raised their family and still live. Susan was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Susan is survived by her husband, Jerry; their children, Tim (Tina) Vander Meer, Tammy Gibson, Tom (Lisa) Vander Meer; their 5 grandchildren, Tyler, Mary, Justin, Devon, and Zak; her brothers, John (Dale) Paarlberg and Robert (Linda) Paarlberg; her sister-in-law, Jane (Howard) Goldsworthy; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen. Funeral Services will be held at 6:00PM Sunday, March 18, 2018 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. Antioch, IL 60002. Visitation will be held from 3:00PM until the start of the service at the funeral home. A Funeral Service will also be held at 1:00PM Monday, March 19, 2018 at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Ln. Dyer, IN with visitation beginning at 11:00AM.
