Sylvia J. Zambrano

Sylvia “Bobo” Zambrano, age 73, a beloved mother and lifelong resident of Chicago Heights, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on July 23, 1952 to Emma and the late Pablo Ochoa, Sylvia dedicated her life to her family, her home, and her community. She was known for her strength and warmth. Her greatest joy came from caring for those she loved, and her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and love.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gregorio Zambrano, with whom she shared 11 beautiful years of marriage.

Sylvia was a devoted mother to Loreta, Gregorio Jr., Juan (Maira), Cristina (Juan), and Alejandro (Rosalinda). She was a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren, Sarah, Fernando, Kaylie, Ty, Talen, Gustavo, Tegan, Jun, Brie, Andrea, Nolan, Jase, and Lia. Dear sister to Anita (Jeorge) Galvan, Raquel (Andrew) Morales, late Isreal Ochoa, late Pablo Ochoa, and Adelena (Brian) Ochoa. Kind aunt of many nieces and nephews. Her family was her heart, and her legacy of love and kindness lives on through them.

Private services will be held. Arrangements entrusted to Smits Funeral Home. Sylvia will be laid to rest beside her husband at Assumption Cemetery—Glenwood, IL.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
