Tena Vanderaa

Tena VanDerAa, nee Poortenga, age 93, of South Holland, IL, passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2012. Tena is survived by five daughters: Jean (Jim) Lagestee, Carol (John) Askew, Doris (Terry) Van Hofwegen, Joann (Jeff) Dekker, and Judy (John) Clausing; one son: Paul (Sherry) VanDerAa; 26 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren; one brother: John Poortenga, and one sister: Evelyn Plett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley VanDerAa, one daughter: Rosemary (Bill) VanSomeren, four sisters: Peternell Ligtenberg, Agnes DeGraff, Jessie Van Hofwegen, and Dora Ligtenberg, and by two brothers: Menno and Peter Poortenga. Visitation Friday, November 23, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt. 30 & Pleasant Springs Lane) Dyer, IN 46311. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Oak Glen United Reformed Church (2244 Indiana Ave., Lansing, IL) with services conducted by Rev. John Vermeer. Interment prior to the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Ridge Cemetery - Lansing, IL. Memorial contributions may be given to Oak Glen United Reformed Church.
