Thressa Haak, nee Piper, age 93, of South Holland, IL, entered the joy of her Lord on October 20, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Barney, her son, Richard, granddaughter, Ruth DeJong, great-granddaughter, Sarita Feenstra, sister, Betty (late Bob) Marrow. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Marilyn (Ken) DeJong and Rev. Carl (Mary) Haak; her sister Berdina (late Don) Lotterman; her grandchildren: Edward (Leah) DeJong, Sharon (Jack) Bretall, Stephan (Jennifer) DeJong, Michael (Janelle) DeJong, Lisa (Steve) Melendez, Kristin DeJong, Diana DeJong, Emily DeJong, Melissa DeJong, Melinda (Ryan) Roeda, Kathleen DeJong, Bethany (Mark) Feenstra, Keri (Rev. Jonathan) Mahtani, and Melanie (Chad) Noorman; and sister-in-law, Dora Haak. She will be missed by her 29 great-grandchildren and many loving nephews and nieces. Born on June 21, 1922, Thressa Piper married Barney Haak on April 16, 1948, and was a faithful member of Crete Protestant Reformed Church. We are thankful for the blessing of her life. She was a Godly example, a good listener, had a delightful sense of humor, spunk, and determination; and most of all had a heart for the things that were right and pure. We will miss her deeply, but for her "The strife is over, the battle done, the victory of life is won, the song of triumph has begun!" Visitation Friday, October 23, 2015, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Crete Protestant Reformed Church (1777 E. Richton Rd., Crete, IL). Funeral Service, Saturday, October 24, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at Crete Protestant Reformed Church with services conducted by Rev. Jonathan Mahtani. Family and friends are invited to the interment which will be held prior to the service at 9:00 a.m. at Oak Ridge Cemetery - Lansing, IL. Memorial contributions may be given to Heritage Christian High School / Protestant Reformed Christian School General Fund.
