John Timothy Naylor, husband, father, engineer, and resident of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2020, at the age of 70.  His only hope in life and in death was in Jesus Christ, his faithful savior.

Tim was born in Auburn, Iowa on August 1, 1950 to Rev. Harlan and Mildred Naylor.  He graduated from Monmouth College and the University of Illinois with double degrees in Physics and Engineering.  In his long career, Tim worked on nuclear submarines, nuclear, gas and electrical power plants, as well as advanced solar power plants.  On August 28, 1993, he married Wendy Fish and on September 14, 1995 they welcomed their daughter, Bethany Christine Naylor, into their family.

Tim was devoted to Christ and committed to a life of grateful obedience to God. He served as a deacon in the Presbyterian Church for 18 years.  In 2005 he brought his family to Oak Glen United Reformed Church.  An avid skier, Tim traveled to slopes in over 18 states and 3 Canadian provinces as a member of the Chicago Ski Club.  In the past ten years, he took up marksmanship, and enjoyed going to Nevada for specialized training and practice.  A lifelong audiophile, Tim loved classical music and was an accomplished trumpeter in a Chicago quintet.

Tim is survived by his wife Wendy, daughter Bethany, and his cousin Edie (Ron) Fox.  He is preceded in death by his stillborn son, John Paul Naylor, his brother Harlan Jr., his parents Harlan and Mildred Naylor as well as his father’s second wife, Mabel Lundquist Naylor.

Tim was known for his quiet wisdom and problem solving skills. He was loved by many, and will be dearly missed.  His final resting place will be next to his brother, mother, father, stepmother and paternal grandparents in Morning Sun, Iowa.
