Velma I. Trotter

Velma I. Trotter, nee Hunter, of South Holland, IL, age 91, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2016. Born February 5, 1925 to the late Albert and Anna Hunter in Hinds County, MS. Beloved wife of the late Joe Sr. Mother of the late Joey. Dear sister of the late Alma Norwood. She leaves to cherish her memory, nephews: Bernard Norwood Jr., Joshua and Shawn, many cousins, extended church family, loving neighbors, co-workers, and dear friends. Velma’s parents moved to Chicago, where she completed her education and met the love of her life, Joe Trotter. Velma loved children and worked in the Chicago School system for over 20 years. She was a member of Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxillary. Visitation Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Directly at St. Kilian Church (8725 S. May St. Chicago, IL 60620) with Rev. Donald Eruaga officiating. Interment St. Mary Cemetery – Evergreen Park, IL. Arrangements entrusted to Smits, DeYoung-Vroegh Funeral Home, 649 E. 162nd St. (Rt.6/159th St.) South Holland, IL 60473.
