Vernelle Miedema, 94, of St. Anne, IL, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. She was born January 17, 1921 in Lansing, Illinois, the daughter of John and Christine (Blankestyn) Tallman. Vernelle married Lewis Miedema on April 8, 1948. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1983. Surviving are her daughter Bonnie (Walter) Aebi, of St. Anne; her son John (Kathy) Miedema of Winfield; her brother Neal (Corinne) Tallman of Bourbonnais; her sister Anna Marie (Elwood) Miedema of St. Anne; and two grandchildren, Jeff Miedema and Katelyn Miedema. Vernelle was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, baking, gardening, and visiting with family. She was a lifelong member of the First Reformed Church of Wichert, St. Anne, Illinois, where she was a Girls'' League sponsor, a Sunday school teacher, an adult class Sunday school secretary, and a member of the Women''s Guild. Visitation will be from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. and funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the First Reformed Church of Wichert in St. Anne. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wichert, with the Rev. Randy Knoll officiating. Memorials may be made to the First Reformed Church of Wichert.
