Victor A. Sweetwood

Victor A. Sweetwood, age 67, of South Chicago Heights, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Sunday, February 15, 2026. Beloved husband of 49 years of Jeanne Sweetwood nee Kuebler. Loving father of Alan Sweetwood, Andrew (Katie) Sweetwood, Aaron (Katie) Sweetwood, Amy Sweetwood, Andy Sweetwood and “bonus” father of Rachel Lemarr. Cherished grandfather of Gianna, Kayley, Scarlett and Vivien. Dear brother of Dale (late Helen) Sweetwood and Dean (late Lois) Sweetwood. Victor leaves behind many “bonus” children and grandchildren who he loved dearly. Preceded in death by his parents Evelyn and Clifford R. Sweetwood and his siblings Charalene, Roger, Lola, Lonnie and Keith.

Victor served as a firefighter / paramedic for East Joliet for 7+ years. He was a lifetime member of Meneoka - New Lenox Sportsmans Club and cherished his times and memories there. Victor loved to spend time with animals and loved his numerous dogs that he had, whether his own or a foster. He was also active member of the South Chicago Heights Zoning Board. Victor will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation to be held Sunday, February 22, from 1:00 p.m. until time of Funeral Service at 4:00 p.m. at Smits – Steger Memorial Chapel, 3045 Chicago Rd., Steger, Illinois 60475.
