It is with great sadness that the family of Virginia A. Davis nee Pidanick announces her passing on December 8, 2013 at the age of 82, she left peacefully while in Hospice Care in Chicago, IL. Beloved wife of the late Richard P. Davis. Loving mother who will be waiting in the sky for Susan (James Howard) White and John (Dawn) Hartney. Dear stepmother of Dixie Carrier. Virginia leaves her beloved grandchildren Cherie, Trevor and stepgrandson Brian. Virginia Ann Davis was quite a woman. Since Virginia truly enjoyed people, making friends was always extremely easy for her. Although she was a good faithful wife and caring mother, life with her was like that of Lucille Ball in 'I Love Lucy'...a lot going on and inadvertently causing a lot of chaos that kept things interesting and hilarious at times. Ginny, as she was affectionately called shared freely with her children, grandchildren, sisters, nieces, nephews and friends. All animals had a soft spot in her heart. Many of her pets were orphaned birds and animals. Lifetime owner of dogs and cats, she was an accomplished horsewoman. Her passion was her horses with which she entered many shows. Diversity is the best way to describe her careers and hobbies. For a number of years she was a model. Her love of animals led her to raise, professionally groom and work in obedience training with poodles. Max Factor offered her a career as a makeup artist that all the women in the family loved and benefited from. Deciding not to travel anymore, she achieved her real estate license. When she became semi-retired she worked as a waitress and even mucked stalls to contribute to the board of her horse. Virginia took up art and created several lovely portraits and paintings, some of which she sold. She and her husband enjoyed using their motorhome to travel in their spare time with the Illinois Motorcoach Association. Virginia was amazing; she served on the community homeowners association, voting polls and was a member of the volunteer fire department. One of her best virtues was her strength and determination, when most people would say something could not be done, Ginny would always find a way. In spite of such an active lifestyle, she always had time to share with her family and will be sincerely missed by all who knew her. A celebration of life will be held Friday December 13, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service 1:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Homes-Steger Memorial Chapel 3045 Chicago Road Steger, IL 60475. Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery - Elwood, IL.
