Virginia "Ginger" A. Johansen

Virginia A. “Ginger” Johansen, nee VanIngen, age 78, of St. John, IN, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 12, 2023. Beloved wife of Ronald Johansen. Loving mother of Tammi Johansen, Kris Johansen, and Julie (Brian) Benson. Adoring grandmother of Ashley (Jacob) Christensen, Casey (Lauren) Johansen, and Jacob (Brooke) Benson. Cherished great-grandmother of Caden, Audrey, Sophia, Miles, and Isla. Dear sister of the late Glen VanIngen and brother John (Diane). Preceded in death by her parents John and Virginia VanIngen. Ginger was a joy to everyone who met her. She will be deeply missed by all.

A visitation will be held Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN 46311. A funeral service conducted by Rev. Andrew Nearpass will be held at Smits Funeral Home on Friday, June 16, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Memory Lane Memorial Park, Crown Point, IN.
