Wayne K. Boss, Sr., of Crete, IL went home to his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 18, 2026. Beloved husband of Barbara J. Boss, nee Bruinius. Loving father of the late Deanna Tiemens, Brian (Kristi) Boss, Susan (Todd) Kuipers, Wayne (Trisha) Boss, Jr. and father-in-law of Ron (Martha) Tiemens. Devoted grandfather of Christie (Gary) Tidd, Alex (Jessica) Tiemens, Ryan (Angela) Wessels, Libby (Adam) Milligan, Andrew (Beth) Boss, Katie (Eric) Chappell, Kelsey (Josh) Franklin, Kara (Jacob) Dorn, Samantha (Joe) Stoken, Dan (Megan) Kuipers, Jill (Lukas) Otte, Liz (Derek) Boomsma, Brittany (Jeremy) Karr, Kylie (Zim) Rivas, the late Zachary Boss, and Mickey (Colton) De Jong; great-grandfather of Anna, Izzy and Isaac Tidd, Liam, Hudson and Jocelyn Tiemens, Bruce and Evangeline Wessels, William and Eliza Milligan, Enoch, Eunice, Elsie Jo and Ephraim Chappell, Gideon, Adelynn, Avonlea, Everlee and Vivian Franklin, Zeke, Aiden, Zoey and Everett Dorn, Clark and Robbie Stoken, Dean, William and one on the way Kuipers, Arthur and Beau Otte, Claire and Kate Boomsma, Zachary, Madelyn, Levi and Micah Karr, Lily and Ivy Rivas. Dear brother of Eunice (John) Tiemersma and the late Deanna Boss and brother-in-law of Joyce (late Rich) Tuitman, the late Harold “Butch” (Judy) Bruinius, and the late Jake (late Trudy) Bruinius.
Wayne owned and operated Boss Auto Rebuilders before changing careers and opening up Wayne Boss Jewelry Store in South Holland. He was a jewelry designer, an avid woodworker and creative artist. He served on many Christian Boards and organizations over the years and was one of the founding members of the Bethshan Association. Wayne loved to serve the Lord and spend time with his family. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, April 24, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 3500 Glenwood-Lansing Rd., Lansing, IL with services conducted by Rev. Kyle Beckrich. (The funeral service will be live streamed from Smits Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/SmitsFH). A private family interment will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery – Lansing, IL. Memorial contributions may be given to Lansing Christian School (https://lansingchristian.org) or Bethshan Association (https://bethshan.org) .
