Wendell A. Wegner, age 83, of Dyer, IN, formerly a long time resident of South Holland, IL, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 14, 2013. Beloved husband of Barbara A. Wegner, nee Warmelink. Devoted and loving father of Lisa (Jim) Morris, Rob (Michelle) Wegner, and the late infant Cynthia Annette Wegner. Proud grandfather of Joshua, Maddie, Whitney, Lauren, and Belle. Dear brother of Ret. Col. Leonard W. (Muriel) Wegner. Visitation Monday, November 18, 2013 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral service Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt. 30 & Pleasant Springs Lane) Dyer, IN 46311 with Rev. Daniel Gute officiating. Interment Concordia Cemetery - Hammond, IN. Mr. Wegner was a retired Vice President of Chicago City Bank and Trust Co. He was a longtime member of Lorimer Baptist Church, Past President of the Roseland Kiwanis club, former officer at Union National Bank in Roseland, Board member of the South Holland Library, and a longtime member of Gideon's International.
