William J. DeGroate, Jr., age 67, of Lansing, IL, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023. Beloved husband of Susan DeGroate, nee Corte. Loving father of Jeffrey DeGroate, Jonathan (Danielle) DeGroate, and Jessica (Richard) Wallace. Devoted Papa of Raegan Wallace, Lucas DeGroate, Addison DeGroate, Camden Wallace, and Avery DeGroate.

Bill was a retired member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #399 Chicago. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and an avid fisherman. He loved his family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service to be held at 5:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.), Dyer, IN.
