William K. Jarrells Jr.

William (Billy) K. Jarrells Jr., age 56 of Griffith, IN passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday April 1, 2025. Billy was full of life and lived it to the fullest. He could bring joy and laughter to everyone that crossed his path. He was the life of the party and could make anyone smile. Billy spent 21 years working at Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad as a carman. He was a stock car driver, car owner, and co-owner of Fastlane Motorsports for over 20 years. Billy's passion for racing was something he passed down to his children. Every weekend of the season you would find him with his wife and kids at the track and weeknights in the garage with his son. Billy was a fantastic welder and put his craft to use helping friends that became family with their race cars over the years. When not working on race cars Billy enjoyed playing Bingo with his daughter along with father, brothers, and dear friends.

He is survived by his wife Saundra Jarrells, son BJ Jarrells (Trisha), daughter KayLynn Jarrells (Kayla), and grandchildren Grayson, Rhett, Dallas, and Paisley. His father William Jarrells Sr., brothers Chris Jarrells and Tony Jarrells, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his beloved mother Shirley Jarrells and mother in law Connie Hibbard.

Friends and family are invited to send Billy off on his final victory lap at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Ln, Dyer, IN 46311 Sunday, April 6, 2025 for a visitation and viewing 4pm-8pm. Cremation to follow visitation.
