William R. Oppenhuis

William R. Oppenhuis, age 79, of Lynwood, IL, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017. Beloved husband of 55 years of Sandra Oppenhuis, nee Swart. Devoted father of Michael (Linda) Oppenhuis, Michelle (Steven) Van Beek, Ross (Lori) Oppenhuis, and Robert (Kimberly) Oppenhuis. Proud grandfather of Andrew, Jocelyn, Zachary, Joshua, Samantha, Tatum, Brett, Sydnee, Alexa, Tanner, Maxwell, Kyla, and Taylor. Dear brother of Donna (Ray) Fuller and Cheryl (Larry) Morrone. Preceded in death by his parents Edward Oppenhuis and Rose Stefik, and his sister Arlene Meadows.

Visitation Monday, January 1, 2018 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane Dyer, IN. Funeral service Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Christian Reformed Church (3500 Glenwood-Lansing Rd. Lansing, IL) with services conducted by Rev. Cal Aardsma. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery – Elwood, IL.

William was a U.S. Army Veteran. He attended Bethel CRC in Lansing for over 50 years. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play their sporting events through the years.
